Productivity should include different Abilities

PRODUCTIVITY SHOULD INCLUDES

DIFFERENT ABILITIES

Charity and productivity are often confused.  Companies might think that allowing PwD amounts to charity.  If so, they misunderstand inclusion because this is far from the case.  PwD must still be productive, they only need an environment that allow them to participate!

The output determines relevance, and the inputs determine the cost.  Employing PwD may have an impact on cost, but the profit margin of the company will determine what is reasonable.  Catering for PwD means that PwD must still be productive.  If an organisation is prepared to tolerate an increase in input, they may get additional experience and resilience for free, and this may compensate for any additional inputs!

Required inputs includes both the resources and the activities.  Often PwD can give the required output but in a different way. The question is whether this is acceptable to the company.

Productivity is managed easier when the inputs are homogeneous. To include impairments means that managers must be skilled to manage productivity when inputs are not homogeneous. It is trickier, but not impossible. This is however real because this is the reality of our society. Each organisation must determine what is reasonable in their situation because each situation is different.
