A PHILISOPHICAL VIEW ON FAIRNESS AND CONSISTENCY

Let us assume we all want to treat people fairly! The question is, do we treat people the same (consistent), or is it more fair to adjust according to the abilities?

If we all have the same abilities, consistency is the answer to fairness. But there are always differences.

We are NOT all the same! I think your action expose your motive … and your motive will determine your priorities!

If you think peoples’ motive is "to pursue comfort", you will think that treating them consistently is fair.  If you think the end result should be opportunities, different approaches should be the priority.

I think that consistency is an argument promoted by the naturally gifted.  Ironically little of their ability are their own doing, a lot is inherited and because they are fortunate.

Making an organistation successful creates opportunities.  Ultimately it depends on the person-in-charge and their superiors' view, of what prevails, because they are the decision makers!

Driving productivity has two benefits.  It makes organisations successful and creates opportunities.  I believe that opportunity should always be more important than comfort, because it expose a ME or a WE mentality!
